South Yardley Allotments Society
Allotment sites in Acocks Green and South Yardley

Welcome to the website of South Yardley Allotments Society

There is nothing more rewarding than eating fresh home grown food and there is an opportunity in Acocks Green and South Yardley to do just that.

There are vacant plots available on our allotment sites. Sizes and costs vary and they are roughly half price for over 65s.
We have many plots rented by young families with more and more women renting plots.
Gardening on an allotment gives you lots of space to dedicate to growing your favourite produce and the advice and experience of other local gardeners is also close at hand. And of course, fresh air, exercise and lots of healthy food! This is a good time to start an allotment with the whole growing season still ahead of you. It might be an idea to get family and friends involved too and then you can share the rewards.  If you are a new to gardening  there are lots of helpful gardening books at the local libraries and other plot holders are always willing to offer advice.

Whether you are a member of the Society or just a passing visitor please take time to have a look around and see what we've been up to.

The Clay Lane Site lies to the North of the Grand Union Canal has 70 individual allotment plots of varying sizes and some are divided into half plots. There are  currently 30 vacant plots.

The Wharfland Site is in Acocks Green and lies South of the canal. There are 38 plots of varying sizes some of which are divided into smaller half plots.
There is now a state-of-the-art composting toilet on this site and a Community Meeting Shed.

Both sites have running water, toilets and a communal shed. On Clay Lane there is a shop which is open on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and some Saturday and Sunday mornings  (all 10-12) during the growing season  (click on "Allotment Tenancy" then "Shop"). This is the place to get all you need for your plot.
